I don't understand you then. I never thought Katy ever looked that good.

If you like hip hop definitely listen to Little Simz.

She also has a really good unreleased track with Gorillaz. There's a video of them performing it live on youtube.

If you like pop type stuff probably check out Grimes? I like her aesthetic but don't enjoy her music much cuz it's not really what I'm into

Hey lainons! Earlier, I've seen how some of you are fond of digital hardcore so I share the dates of the coming Australia tour of Decide Today (breakcore) and Evolve (hiphop). This thread also serves the purpose to discuss the music of both, Decide Today & Evolve, and also chatting about how you've experienced the gigs that you've attended.

(I don't know what's the stance of the lainchan staff towards social media pages like FB, so I've changed some links. You have to replace the 'zuccbook' part.)

When will Divtech come to Europe again?

File: 1504636766439.jpg (135.53 KB, 960x960, realicide.jpg)

This is actually off-topic because David Divtech isn't with Robert Imhuman (Decide Today) this time. Divtech plans touring the US East coast in late October, though. I don't know when he's going to return to Europe.

Oh soykaf, can't wait for east coast tour. Hope there's a Philadelphia date

Sorry, I just really liked the Divtech show last year.

Anyone here do creative writing?

I personally work on the same piece of fiction everytime I'm bored and have a device. I've worked on it on and off for the past couple years, some of it good, some of it not that good. But it's a nice hobby. I get to create a world, characters and play out scenes. Especially since I create a movie-like narrative without a single dollar in budget.

Anyway, care to share some of your works and progress?

If you want to write something like a novel, there are a few different approaches. Some people start with the setting and characters then just write them to see where they're doing. Others plan the plot out, then go back and fill in details for each scene over time, adding more and more detail/ideas until the scenes work, which creates the characters in its own way.
If you're not generally motivated to just write off your own back then chances are either way will be a waste of your time and you'll be better off using it to do something else.

OP here,

Finally got around to getting a decently written and proof read section of my story on pastebin. I don't mind if people copy or save it, it's on a 6 month expiration just so it's not there for eternity.

I pasted it straight in so hopefully my formatting came across properly. Pastebin certainly doesn't make for the most enjoyable reading platform, the text is straining to say the least. Might be an idea to import it into your favourite text editor.

>She could see horseman
It's really lacking in tension and pacing. Who are these people, why are they fighting, why should the reader care to read a play-by-play of a battle? 9-14 are interesting as they give some insight into the characters but it's not maintained.

I get these sort of criticisms a lot and I see it given to others a lot as well. I personally think it's unreasonable criticism because what you've been given is an out of context half-chapter, clearly well after the characters, settings, factions, politics and world have been established. For all you know this is the second last chapter and yet you demand to know all the context from this half chapter.

What am I to do? Put foot notes on every second page with constant updates on pre-established information? It's unreasonable.

Imagine picking up The Lord of the Rings books, flicking to the final battle by the Black Gate and then calling Tolkien out for not making you invested in the story, so you put it down?

Not to sound indignant, I've just heard the same thing over and over. I show people my most proof read section as a best example of my writing, not to get them invested in the story, especially because that's not where the story starts, not even close.

If Pierre Menard wrote The Return of The King today I'd tell him to tone it down too, the style is ludicrous.
>`No, no!' cried Frodo, snatching the Ring and chain from Sam's hands. `No you won't, you thief!' He panted, staring at Sam with eyes wide with fear and enmity. Then suddenly, clasping the Ring in one clenched fist, he stood aghast. A mist seemed to clear from his eyes, and he passed a hand over his aching brow. The hideous vision had seemed so real to him, half bemused as he was still with wound and fear. Sam had changed before his very eyes into an orc again, leering and pawing at his treasure, a foul little creature with greedy eyes and slobbering mouth. But now the vision had passed. There was Sam kneeling before him, his face wrung with pain, as if he had been stabbed in the heart; tears welled from his eyes.

But you're under no obligation to listen to me.

Any tea loving lains? I recently bought some 9 year old Da Hang Pao from Fujian province which is quite nice. What is your favorite tea? Any recent buys?

Pic is oolong bushes on Wuyi mountain, where the finest oolong is cultivated.

Tea is excellent. I've just started drinking it last year-ish and love it. I haven't had the fortune to many very good teas, however a local coffee shop sells some of the best oolong tea I've ever had. It's very smokey tasting.

One of my friends went to Spain and tried some moorish teas at a southern cafe. I wish I could have been there with him to try that.

File: 1505770074651.jpg (35.25 KB, 500x389, BritTea.jpg)

I love English teas, I drink a lot of English breakfast as to me its the quintessential tea.

Earl Gray I don't mind, and I drink others, but English breakfast is where its at.

Sounds like you had a strongly roasted Shui Xian or Da Hong Pao.

Today, a polish friend of mine brought me some polish green tea. It was really good, it tasted a bit sweet. I think it had some vanilla, cocoa, and oats in it. Anyone have any idea what it might have been?

I've started to drink tea regularly and mostly all day after I started to move out and quit drinking.

If you have a Russian store near you you should go there and try some teas. They have some of the best black one and it's really cheap (I pay like 2-3 bucks for 100 tea bags)

I think the general aesthetic of vaporwave is dead. The fact that it used to be this insider club on the internet but now there are vaporwvae videos with millions of views and I have normal people at my school who know about vaporwave. Post your favorite songs

File: 1505836993426.jpg (89.37 KB, 1280x720, maxresdefault.jpg)

Of course the same slowed down 80s pop gets old at some point, but there are so many artists with very different styles I don't think this is dead or anything.

What >>1185 says. You got to explore the sub-genres.

Hey, at least youre not future funk

Millions of people knew about Cyberpunk when it peaked in the 90s after the initial wave. I don't think Cyberpunk is dead, either.

Just because a lot of people are onto it now doesn't degrade the quality of some of the Vaporwave albums that are coming out. In a way, Vaporwave is babby's first ambient and the first experience with avant-garde music for normal people, so if it opens up minds to stuff like that, I don't see the harm in normal people encountering it.

cyberpunk is so much more than vaporwave even if you count in its apparent "criticism of capitalism"

>We have the means and methods to make knowledge accessible to everyone, with no economic barrier to access and at a much lower cost to society. But closed access’s monopoly over academic publishing, its spectacular profits and its central role in the allocation of academic prestige trump the public interest. Commercial publishers effectively impede open access, criminalize us, prosecute our heroes and heroines, and destroy our libraries, again and again. Before Science Hub and Library Genesis there was or Gigapedia; before Gigapedia there was; before there was little; and before there was little there was nothing. That's what they want: to reduce most of us back to nothing. And they have the full support of the courts and law to do exactly that.

>Share this letter - read it in public - leave it in the printer. Share your writing - digitize a book - upload your files. Don't let our knowledge be crushed. Care for the libraries - care for the metadata - care for the backup. Water the flowers - clean the volcanoes.

What is it with the government wanting to ban free books?

>Libgen provides free books
>big publisher thinks it's losing pocket change
>lobbies and complains to government

Apparently this happened a little less than 2 years ago. Thanks for the tip that exists, though.

It's in the governments and big cooperations best interests to keep the poor uneducated.

when the hell is he gonna continue it?

well she came back from her hiatus and has mentioned she is working with a team to reboot her other comic Knite and continue Fisheye Placebo. She's now using 3d models of the characters to position and the paint over so she can work faster.

Highly recommend Steins;Gate for an anime, it has a good English dub as well.

Just phrases that are meant to be repeated to convey a consistent meaning. Doesn't necessarily need to be religious, my first example is going to be the Litany Against Fear, from Dune, read it if you haven't.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

The next is the first section of Ecclesiastes, also something you should read if you haven't yet, and if you have it's worth a re-read.

What do people gain from all their labors
at which they toil under the sun?

Generations come and generations go,
but the earth remains forever.

The sun rises and the sun sets,
and hurries back to where it rises.

The wind blows to the south
and turns to the north;
round and round it goes,
ever returning on its course.

All streams flow into the sea,
yet the sea is never full.
To the place the streams come from,
there they return again.

All things are wearisome,
more than one can say.
The eye never has enough of seeing,
nor the ear its fill of hearing.

What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.

Is there anything of which one can say,
“Look! This is something new”?
It was here already, long ago;
it was here before our time.

No one remembers the former generations,
and even those yet to come
will not be remembered
by those who follow them.

I guess we could include proverbs in this as well.

"To pray is to accept defeat" pops into my head frequently.

File: 1504722327984.jpg (24.43 KB, 612x501, 659275724.jpg)

That's actually pretty comfy fam.

"I continue to live inside a dichotomy: What was, and what will be. the pain inside my skull is me trying to mesh the two." - Chila Woychik

"The most beautiful thing in the world, I think is the inability of the human mind to correlate all it's contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of inifinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far." - H.P. Lovecraft

"The Individual is unimportant to the whole. The Symbol is what matters."

"It falls upon us to preserve the health of the whole by ensuring the proper functioning of the part. And if the finger becomes gangrenous. Sever it, and take its place."

Pulvis Et Umbra Sumus

Nil Desperandum

The hook for Beware is one of my favorite verses in music.

"And I know soon come my time
For in mine void a pale horse burns;
But I fear not the time I'm taken
Past the point of no return.
Wage war like no tomorrow,
'Cause no well there won't be one
For all who deny the struggle
The triumphant overcome."

Life is brutal and you're only mortal; ignore that to your own peril. The triumphant rage against it with all their might and carve their own paths along the way.

I really fucking love that song. Rarely does a song pump me up so much. Lately been listening to them a lot. Hacker is my new favorite.

Any Cyberpunk anime, manga, cartoons, movies, books with an emphasis on the punk over the cyber?

>Pic related. The UK soundtrack for this show fucking shreds.

That looks awesome. Torrenting as we speak

Here is the first episode of the OVA on Youtube if anyone is interested:
