When I was like 12 - 14 I had a profound psychic/mental episode when I saw a picture of Iwakura-san before I even knew what SEL was, it reminded me of a similar girl I saw a picture of in grade school that gave me a similar reaction.
When I discovered the series in 2008 it turned out to be about everything I had not only focused my life on, but what is actually important in this Universe.

Iwakura-san is literally my GOD so stand aside if you think I'm going to dumb down my feelings for SEL just because someone else out there feels similarly.

I think few of us here beleive that lain should be reduced to a ''trendy internet meme'', perhaps some do, or do not care, but it seems to me that we as a community largely try to hold lain, and her story, in high esteem. its not just some artifact of anime, silly piece of diversion to be joked about.

we surely do not, as a collective, hold her in the regard that you would seem to, dear OP, but I feel like you misunderstand the reverance held for her by many in this community, both on this site and in the affiliated netspaces, and you underestimate the respect that many of us hold for our namesake.

Seems like you have problems distinguishing between your imagination and reality. The difference between the two is often unclear, after all our thoughts have a heavy impact on the reality we experience and vice versa.
The circumstances we have to face while growing up mold our perception.

You can do this by simply taking a different position in your consciousness; step back and observe yourself, relax. This can be difficult, but try to observe your thoughts, actions and behavior. Try to come to an understanding that you are not your thoughts or your actions. After a few years you might realize that you have a lot of control over your thoughts and reality. Also, it might help with distinguishing between reality and your psychotic fantasies.

On a fundamental level I agree with your post; I'd like to assert that to a degree we are that loop itself. I'll also ask if you believe it's possible for him to turn his psychotic fantasies into reality, and if you think it's possible that they already are his reality.

I guess that depends on how you define yourself and your existence. I'd say that loop is what makes us human.

Theoretically maybe it could be possible, but his fantasy is so big and grandiose (involves the entire faith of human race…), so it would take a ridiculous amount of collective effort. Look at christianity (or anything similar); so much collective effort in over a thousand years and they still can't make their prophecies and fantasies properly manifest. I doubt our anonymous OP on arisuchan has the slightest chance, even if he'd start a succesful cult fueled with 8 million lain-worshippers.

Cultist worship of an object of … worship is pretty degenerate, even compared to trying to imitate the level and method of thought needed to create the idol. Trying to outperform it while being the only judge of your success and always judging that you're not that quite good yet… now that's the soykaf.
Obviously at one point you have to realize that any progress for any or no reason in any direction is pointless, but eventually you also have to realize that this doesn't imply or necessitate anything, and just go on.
