Hey Alice, what do you think about CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077? I think it looks quite promising. And with it having actual sunlight in it unlike all the other cyberpunk games that take place exclusively in the dark i think it will be a bit more realistic. Design-wise it looks quite nice.

 No.2908

It looks great.
Also Gibson should be ignored, he always talks everything bad when it's not by him.

Also there is sunlight in many other Cyberpunk movies, books and games.

Hell, have those people even watched any episode of GitS? Even the latest Bladerunner had sun.
This argument just comes from Hipsters who absolutely have NO clue what cyberpunk actually is about.

I think OP may have been willfully engaging in a hyperbole, of course other /cyb/ things have sunlight, but a lot of them seem to overuse purely dense urban environments. Not everyone lives in Kowloon.

I've not played many /cyb/ games tbqh, but this does certainly look, fascinating, from an aesthetic perspective at the very least. I've been following it lightly for, suffice it to say a while, and I hope it turns out nicely. But somehow I imagine it will ask for more graphical capabilities than certainly my computer posesses.

Furthermore: is there any actual data regarding the plotline of the game? Great aesthetics are one thing, actually worthwhile story is another.

I was just countering that general pseudo-soykafstorm enforced by a few low-iq people on Reddit and 4chan, not against OP.

Games are indeed even rarer than other media with this topic. So that's also a reason why it's very welcoming.

Nothing really official, but some detective work has been done on the trailer and mini-ARG that was hidden it to catch a few extra info, which resulted mostly in a few possible classes one can choose from, and so on.
I guess real story will be communicated more in the next trailer in some months/next year(?).

 No.2916

After some thinking I find that don't mind the sunlight at all, as long as there is a day/night cycle. I mean, if this is an open world game and I spend hundreds of hours in it i'd get boring at some point I guess. Rather have some sunlight here and there and appreciate night mode when its time comes.

I'm pretty optimistic about it and I support them as I can, I love their Witcher saga, still remember waiting for 1st game and I hope they won't screw it. They're really good at adapting source material, and Cyberpunk 2022 was pretty strong at times so, yeah,

The trailer looks ok but I think the game looks too much like gta. It's not really the sun that's the problem it's the light, vibrant colours. Also there's a scene in the trailer with a kinda redneck guy holding an energy weapon that gives a real "Disney" vibe to it which is lame. I wish it was grittier and darker, but I'm still looking forward to it.

 No.2920

Still gonna have to wait a few more years before it actually comes out unfortunately. But damn this game looks worth the wait.

I could never properly get into the witcher series. But seeing this as a first person game, I might just be able to really get into it's combat, since this is where I really struggled in on witcher 2

 No.2921

I'd like to think they're not gonna fuck this up but CDPR has a habit of biting off more than they
can chew. Who knows? Maybe it'll be fucking fantastic and maybe they'll finally release a GNU/
Linux port that doesn't suck major ass, if they release one at all. soykafty little free DLC à la Witcher
3 is better than nothing but I'd really prefer not having to deal with Windows to play some game.

 No.2922

Cyberpunk 2077 looks great and I'm happy they didn't go all the way to make it look like Blade Runner 2049, even though this seems to be the main criticism.

Is it possible that the game is just GTA with a futuristic skin? Yes, but that's what I always wanted. I'm looking forward to it

It's hard to tell if people are actually upset about the sun, the claim is so stupid that it's hard to distinguish between people genuinely upset and soykaf brewers. CP77 threads on /v/ are pretty funny though.

>>2919
but you haven't seen any gameplay, and from the press descriptions it's a lot faster than GTA.

It's also always fun how people tend to compare open world games to GTA. Just show that those people are just underage hipsters who don't know sh!t about games, and anything else. Especially something as niche as Cyberpunk, they are even wronger.

If they would at least compare it to Shenmue or other OW games.. Sigh. Brainless maggots.

if gta is perceived as a common benchmark that many people have at least some experience with or conception of, then it should make sense that its used as a defacto comparison.

I've never played it (gta* that is), so I am sort of poor at saying if this is the case. If however, you alice have an alternative comparison I am sure we all would be simply delighted to hear it. I've not played many modern games and so probably have a poor corpus from which to draw analogs. Perhaps it will be likd cataclysm-dda with better graphics and a more /cyb/ setting, though it looks more fixed to real time than that, which is in my view somewhat unfortunate, as I like games which can be automatically paused by stopping interaction.

"too much like gta"

Second time I've seen this today. What are you people on about?

Open world =/= gta
Character stats =/= gta
Missions =/= gta

I think we are talking about the general aesthetic of the game, which is not very "dark or gritty" and looks like GTA/whatever instead… Which I agree with personally, but I think it will be a nice game nevertheless.

i don't usually enjoy FPS but if they ever release it on linux i might get it.

i'll watch a let's play whatsoever since it just looks good (visually speaking)

It does look pretty interesting. Being a first person game sounds alright to me, that's how I generally choose to play if the option is available anyway. Plus it's not like there isn't a precident of first-person action RPGs. Limited feild of vision could be annoying, but having a setting with cybernetics might be a nice excuse for playing with various projection methods (see: Fisheye Quake and Blinky) since they could be presented as resulting from optical augments.

Actually, I've been coincidentally thinking about making a first person action RPG in a near future setting, just because it seemed like it'd let me take a lot of tropes from Zelda games while forcing myself to avoid making an outright Zelda clone. Now everyone will think I'm trying to copy Cyberpunk 2077 instead. :p

Really, the only thing that seemed off to me is that we're looking at what seems to be an American city that has both a solid public transporation and traffic that actually flows smoothly enough to allow for car chases. I don't really see it as GTA looking, though? If it was more dark and gritty, I'm sure it'd instead be getting compared to Arkham city.

After seeing first trailer, I thought it's gonna be dark, and I liked it. After E3 2018 trailer, I'd say I'm kinda sad, but maybe I'll give it a try when it will come out (if I will have a good PC/console then)
