For all things exploration in the underground, the forbidden, inaccessible, and abandoned. We do not break in, we don't leave a trace, and we don't get caught.

>What is Urban Exploration?

Urban exploration is the exploration of man-made structures, usually abandoned ruins or not usually seen components of the man-made environment.

>How can I get started?

Start by protecting yourself legally and physically. Learn the laws in your area about abandoned places and your right of taking records such as videos and photos. You also need the get gear to protect yourself during your ventures. Wearing clothing that protects all skin, sturdy boots, and accessories that protects you.

>Where are some places in my area?

It's best to do research to find unexplored places, but to explore some known places, use UE's location database of known places to explore: https://www.uer.ca/

I love urban exploration. I always carry a flashlight and I need to get a good multi colored one. The red light is hard to detect by authoriteies at night for some reason.

Another thing I like to do is climb trees, and find different spots that may be abandoned or old locks that have been left slightly ajar or able to pick.

One thing I would like to say is that you should always leave the places the way you found them, installing backdoors if possible. It is very easy to detect if someone has been there, and I have had my secret spots compromised on more than one occasion because of assholes or authority figures that clean up and resecure.

Sometimes you will see a spot that is available for years, and then boom! right when you sneak in, they shut it down a couple days later.

Memorable moments for me include:
Going on top of a mall through the network service ladder.
Sneaking in and using pools.
Pretending to be a customer at YMCA
Movie theaters (seeing a bunch of movies in one day)
Its sad when this is the only way you can have fun. I guess I have to convince some cool people that I trust to try it with me.

I hope to find or build an underground home that is totally inauspicious

I don't know anything about that part but red light doesn't fuck your night vision like other colours. If you have to turn it off suddenly to avoid being seen, you don't take forever to adjust to the darkness.

yea. I picked up a really powerful, 18659 led light with different light modes(lo, brite) and and rotating bulb that changes the shape of the light. its pretty nice and modular and has a usb charger.

I deally though, I would like to have all of that packaged into a dual 18650 usb charger, with red, green, blue, and white. the different colors are incredibly useful:
the bright white led can be used to blind potentially dangerous individuals.
the red is obviously good for covert operations(like in the movie kid cannabis)
the blue is actually pretty useful for writing on paper at night and the green is just for fun.
oh yeah, it would have to be waterproof.
I also wanted to ask this board what they think of badges and stickers on your laptop. to me, its kind of bad because it be revealing of what kind of person you are and they might think you are malicious.
also, it could be used to influence people to protect themselves online and advocate for constitutional freedoms etc.

Wait, so you explore the city alone?

I always try to convince my friends to do urban exploration, but I guess they like routine, "you are crazy", they prefer to go to the movie theater every month and play video games, I don't go with them anymore to watch movies, I am sick of always doing the same thing over and over again.

Anyway, I decided I will start to explore and do psycho-geography alone.

Give me some general tips, please.

like there are a lot of small tips that you learn from reading.
some major ones would be:
security camera awareness
wearing hats
pretty much always bringing your phone as a social engineer tool
flashlight for night excursions
leave things the way you found them.
if you want to know how frequently people visit an area, leave a quarter on the ground
try to be covert and undetected but not suspicious, sometimes you can just seem like you belong there
take pictures
idk, there are others
