What is Void Linux?
>Void is a general purpose operating system, based on the monolithic Linux® kernel. Its package system allows you to quickly install, update and remove software; software is provided in binary packages or can be built directly from sources with the help of the XBPS source packages collection.
https://voidlinux.org/
Why does it deserve it's own thread?
Well, I think it's a special GNU/Linux distribution and it deserves it's own thread in here, I think there are a few people in here that appreciate Void and it's simplicity
What advantages does Void have over XYZ
It uses runit instead of SystemD or OpenRC
It uses the XBPS package manager
It's a binary distribution but you can use xbps-src to compile packages yourself
It has a musl version
It has a public Git repository where all the package templates are managed and you can do a pull request yourself to contribute package templates. All packages are built using these templates by an automated system somewhere on a server
It's very comfy

I'm sure it's a great distro. but configuring i3 is enough a pain in my ass i don't want to move and rolling release are a fucking nightmare after a year.

Call me the day i can have only security update with a lts branch.

I3 isn't hard to configure, all I did was copy paste a config file from github then look at some videos about it's configuration and then I could just add/remove my own stuff
Also, I don't see what's wrong with rolling release
More stuff broke when I was using Debian and Slackware than Arch and Void
I've been using it for a long time and nothing bad happened so far

Got a trouble of problem during the install someone fixed it for me the lxqt was VERY minimal and i loved it the package manager is not really different then arch. Got a couple of trouble with nvidia. If someone didn't help me during the install process it would have take me ages but it good and the differences with a systemd system is inexistant to be fair.

config was ryzen 2700x gtx 1060 with 16gb ram

I had a massive amount of trouble getting the FDE to work on my latest void install, I tried 20+ times in multiple different ways and still could not get it to work following any of the instructionsets that were available on their site. If anyone knows how to do this properly with an updated set of instructions I would appreciate it, because they did something after they regained the signing keys that fucked it all up somehow.
