How about renegotiating so the affiliates link here instead?
No.130
>>98I've been hanging out in lainchan since its inception… not trying to make some claim, but my point is that lainchan is very important to me. As long as some implementation exists I'll be around.
As I see it, there's been poor decisions all around. Redirecting the main site to here in a rogue manner is a nullchan-tier move. If that's the only way to get traction then maybe the community doesn't want another lainchan.
On the other hand, the main site has looked less like the site I knew originally, and while I'm not against Appleman he doesn't seem to connect well with people, at least on IRC. I share the sentiment of the mods here, and I really like the direction this site is going.
In the end I'll probably use both sites. Hell, i'll probably write a script that merges both sites so I can post on both seamlessly. But I hope the mods on both sides all get their soykaf together so things can go back to normal.

>>98>Although I do want to support this site, I cannot possibly see it gaining a community and not sure anyone is expecting to come from this. .org is a slow moving image board because of its very small population. What are the chances that when people come back that they're going to come to us? Interested in any plans to gain momentum, to get new people who don't really know a lot about lainchan to join.Maybe because the old site is being held up by the iron grip of one single person while the new site already has more and better staff. We get to decide the future of lainchan. I for one decide to post here.

Anyways, the way I see it this place already does have it's soykaf together. At least they have their fucking priorities straight.

As long as the management remains better than .org and new features are continually added to the site, I see a very bright future for .jp.

>>137No promises on that script, but in a few weeks I'll have lots of time open for that sort of thing.
Unless vichan got some API which allows posting I would need to scrape the site for a post form, or something like that.
The end result would be a local webserver. I should make sure there's no existing implementations, but iirc things like overchan don't allow merging boards from different sites.
If I come up with anything I'll post it in λ

Put it up on a git repo or something for contributions?

>.org is a slow moving image board because of its very small population.
I don't get this meme. I find .org to be fast and have a big community.
I believe that those who say .org is slow are just people who use 4chan erryday.
.jp does feel slow, however. It barely has any posts.

>First of all, I'm not a he.
``He'' is a gender-neutral pronoun in English. He probably didn't intend anything about gender in his post.
I'm not defending his advertising though.

>>356Bullsoykaf it is, "he" is male, "She" is female. They/Them/it are neutral.
No.358
>>357They, them, and it are also neutral, yes.
But to deny that ``he'' is neutral is simply wrong: it's been used that way for a long time, and language is made out of usage. It's this way in nearly every European language too: not just English.

He is traditionally used on the net when gender is not known thats all

No.362
>>358Do you speak English as a second language? I know some usage guides state that, but that's not really the case in practice. In practice, 'they' is almost always used, and 'he or she' is sometimes used in formal writing.

>Since this site was started in response to Appleman1234's autistic administration choices, maybe we should try(harder) to talk some sense into him then reintergrate once everyone is happy. It doesn't have to happen overnight either, just show him how some of the choices he made were unintuitive by showing him a better alternative here on .jp.It's a nice thought, but I'm not sure that this is a good long-term solution. I worry that Appleman would basically require indefinite supervision, especially if he really is somewhere on the severe end of the autistic spectrum. Such people may have certain talents but administration and community-building isn't often one of them.
I don't have anything against Appleman personally. It's obvious that he does care about the community in his own strange way. But can we trust that his decision-making process and sense of priorities are even changeable?
As painful as a community split is, I think it was the only option. So far .jp seems healthy, if small. I see no reason to rush to some sort of reunification just for the sake of reunification.

2. are you suggesting that every time anyone mentions any script on this site, we have to create a thread on /μ/ and then link to it?
or is that rule only specifically for this evil asshole who deigned to not just provide us our archive but also had the audacity to give it to applechan and the rest of the lain community?
