I wish I didn't, but I honestly really do. I won't misuse it on anything I don't need. Right now that means getting as much of my rent in as fast as possible.
>Anyway thank you for everything you did to the cyberpunk community.
You're welcome. It brings me a lot of joy to do this.

Ashamed to need to ask for help this month, but what am I supposed to do? Just let it get suspended/terminated without at least notifying you guys and giving you a chance to give me a chance?
Full disclosure, only $33 of that bill is for arisuchan hosting, but I can't elect to pay only part of the $53 invoice and keep it online.
I'm sorry. Fuck my life. =[
If we can survive this month, I will see if I can manually migrate arisuchan to a cheaper, smaller VPS on the same host (unfortunately automatic resizing is only available for upgrades) to make the cost more manageable.
What we're on now is grossly excessive for such a small board, but the last time I needed to migrate to a smaller VPS their technical staff only helped do it for me because I was willing to pay for like six months in advance.
If we get donations sufficient to do so (6 x $15 = $90 more), I will ask. I would then have six more months to get my shit together. On that note, if anyone knows anyone who needs any graphic design, web design, or web development done, please get in touch with me (email
seph@gmx.com
,
seph
on freenode,
razorbelle
on telegram). It could really help me right now.
Thank you, Alice.

>>2010Thanks to everyone who donated! ^_^
We actually received almost enough to pay for six months up front on the smaller plan. I'll try to come up with the rest over the next month and then reach out to them about helping us downgrade to a more reasonable VPS. Thank you so much, Alice! ^ ^;

>>1068> Thank you, Alice. Was this really necessary? Nobody here owes you anything. Besides, how many times people threw money to you, and you promised to NEVER AGAIN beg for money? Two times? Three? More like five at this point already.
It's getting annoying to be honest, get a grip, apply yourself.

>Nobody here owes you anything. I know that.
> Besides, how many times people threw money to you, and you promised to NEVER AGAIN beg for money?I know. I'd rather not have to ever ask for help, especially for such little sums of money. I don't feel great about it, but I'd rather accept shame than close down the community over $50.
>It's getting annoying to be honest, get a grip, apply yourself.I'm sure it is and I'm sorry. Trust me. I'm working on it. I will try to make it up to the community somehow as soon as I can.

>>2047>I'd be fine with buying merchandise or seeing banner ads, granted they were related to Arisuchan's topics in some way.The Sticker Mule stickers are being sent out for free, the Redbubble stickers have 0% markup, and I am literally more interested in having a
reverse adblocker (that blocks you if you
don't have an adblocker installed) than putting ads on the site. Yes, that is an actual thing.
I appreciate the suggestions, but I'm not interesting in charging anyone to visit the site (in the form of banner ads) or charging anyone to promote the site (in the form of commissions/markup on stickers).
If someone is able and willing to donate financial resources, they can opt to do so directly. I feel that is appropriate.
>>2048>A few months ago I'd have just spent the money without thinking twice. Right now money situation isn't quite as good. Sorry. That's fine. I very much appreciate the thought though. ^_^
>>2049>how much money do you require to keep afloat this month currently? It is currently $30/mo for the VPS and $3/mo for the DDoS protection.
I reached out to the technical team and they said that they cannot perform automatic downgrades. I would instead have to manually provision another VPS and migrate everything over.
If I do, I will probably opt for the $15/mo a month option as it still has dedicated CPU usage and sufficient SSD storage. Alternatively, I could instead get a storage-oriented VPS with HDD drives because the CPU and memory really isn't the issue for image boards. Either way I may be able to do this in the next week or two. I'll let you guys know what happens.

it's healthier and more mature way to handle this, especially selling at least some merch or something. better than straight up begging while giving nothing in return lmao

an awful lot of folk apparently turned out to donate when it was solicited recently. I'm not sure if you were one of those people. I was.
I dont like banner adds, I feel like this chan possibly could do them in some sort of discrete way that I wouldnt find too intrusive, but I dont like them and I feel like a lot of us dont like them here.
Evidently this site has existed under multiple administrators, over several years, under this model. There have been a number of times were things were very tight, but we've continually made it. I think we are likely to continue to do so.

also i was talking less about BANNER ADS and more about merch and selling stickers or whatever, actually selling them for some kind of money.
